Instructions
Prepare the Blackberry Syrup
Mix blackberries, sugar, and 1 cup of water in a small saucepan. Warm over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the blend comes to a gentle simmer. Allow it to simmer for about 5 minutes, or until the blackberries soften and burst and the sugar dissolves completely. Mix blackberries, sugar, and 1 cup of water in a small saucepan. Set it over medium heat and let it gently simmer while stirring occasionally. Let the mixture simmer for approximately 5 minutes, or until the blackberries soften and burst and the sugar fully dissolves.
Take the pan off the heat and allow the mixture to cool for several minutes.
Utilizing a fine-mesh strainer, gently pour the syrup into a bowl, using a spoon to press the blackberry pulp for maximum juice extraction. Discard the remaining solids and allow the syrup to cool thoroughly.
Assemble the Lemonade
Combine the cooled blackberry syrup, freshly squeezed lemon juice, and 2 cups of cold water in a large pitcher. Stir well to blend the flavours.
Shred or cut the basil leaves into thin strips to release their essential oils. Then, incorporate them into the pitcher. Stir gently to infuse the lemonade with basil's delicate aroma.
Serve and Enjoy
Fill glasses generously with ice cubes. Pour the blackberry basil lemonade over the ice and garnish with additional fresh basil leaves and a few whole blackberries for a decorative touch.
